Did you know that conventional cards are still made of PVC? In Austria alone 70 million cards are needed every year. One card weighs about 5 grams – therefore we are talking about 350 000 KG of PVC per year.
We have the alternative:
The card is a product that is only used for a relatively short time and here the environmental aspects or the advantages of a card made of renewable raw materials (bioplastic) are obvious. Credit cards are changed every 2 years, membership cards often have an annual expiration date.
We use rapidly renewable raw materials on a plant basis such as corn and sugar.
Also for the card color we use white tones or color pigments based on PLA, because the
card must be opaque because of the built-in electronic components.
